Framing Options
1. ARTIFIS MINIMUM STANDARD
You may wish to frame and hang a simple photograph, your child’s school artwork, a certificate or some other item of interest that is needing to be displayed and kept over only a relatively short period of time.
For such jobs, we offer the option to choose a less rigorous framing specification than would be used for items that need to be preserved for the future. However, in almost every situation, all materials used inside the frame are of conservation standard. We do not use the commonly found cheaper products that have a very limited life. Glazing is, unless otherwise requested, standard (i.e. non-conservation) glass.
For this framing option, we do not employ the full range of conservation materials and techniques used in option 2 (below). However, we treat every item we frame with the same respect and give you the same attention and service that all our clients receive.
If an item is worth custom framing, then it is worthy of good framing. We do not compromise the standard of our work, regardless of the price of the job.
2. PRESERVATION
If you have an item that is of particular value in any way ~ sentimental, historical, artistic or commercial ~ then it is appropriate to adequately consider Conservation or Museum level (i.e. Preservation) framing (see separate section on this, below). We will discuss and carefully explain this to you when you are with us. You will find this time very well spent and we know you will go away feeling excited by the combination of the artistic design in the framing, combined with the high level of protection that your artwork will receive from us as specialists in this level of framing.
“CONSERVATION” AND “MUSEUM” LEVEL (PRESERVATION) FRAMING
Our special focus and training is in Preservation framing ~ i.e. Conservation and Museum level framing. This is appropriate for the great majority of art as it provides a high degree of protection from the destructive nature of many of the causes of physical degradation. Conservation (and Museum) framing involves the use of specific materials and, equally importantly, very particular techniques in the framing processes.

We also work closely with professional conservators in their specialised field when conservation and restoration work is required or desirable. We will then frame the conserved work, employing the best materials and techniques appropriate for the specific art, allowing it to be displayed and enjoyed.
